Aloha, My name is Abram Sandoval and I own Pure Life Mamaki Tea. This is a small organic farm situated on the slopes of Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii. I specialize in growing the medicinal Hawaiian Mamaki Nettle.  The Mamaki shrub has no thorns or thistles like other nettle species. Pipterus Albidus is endemic to Hawaii and can only be found growing in Hawaii. Grown only in Hawaii makes this species of plant super rare, especially the variety I grow. I grow the dry forest Mamaki, which has the deep dark red veined leaves. The dry forest Mamaki has a darker red than most varieties grown in Hawaii. Ancient Hawaiians believed the darker red veined leaves held more healing powers and a deeper taste. I don't use fertilizers or pesticides on any of my plants on my property. The Mamaki shrubs are resistant to most pests and grow very well in my local area without the need of extra nutrients . I hand pick, and select every leaf to assure the most high quality product is available to my buyers . My methods of drying the leaves guarantees optimal nutrients is preserved.

Medicinal Benefits of Mamaki Tea

Some of the medicinal uses of mamaki include:

• Cleanses blood and tissues
• Supports liver, stomach, colon and bladder
• Promotes weight loss
• Aids digestion
• Relieve symptoms of depression, fatigue, insomnia and irritability
• Regulated blood pressure and sugar levels in diabetes
• Lowers cholesterol levels
• Eases symptoms of hypertension, PMS, and colic in childrenThree major antioxidants in mamaki leaves are catechinschlorogenic acid and rutin.

  • Catechins are a type of antioxidant found in the greatest abundance in the leaves of the tea plant.  In smaller amounts, catechins are found in other foods such as red wine, chocolate, berries, and apples. The health benefits of tea catechins have been under examination since the 1990s due to the strong association of tea with long life and health in many ancient cultures.
  • Chlorogenic acid is a powerful antioxidant. It is commonly found in root vegetables such as carrots, radishes, turnips, and burdock.
  • Rutin is a flavonoid in the polyphenol family.  Rutin is commonly found in red wine, buckwheat, citrus, and tomato skin. An animal study also showed that rutin is an antioxidant effective in controlling bodyweight.

How to brew with love

On May 3rd 2018 Kilauea Volcano started erupting on the Big Island of Hawaii. My property sits on Mauna Loa on the South side of the Island.  Being on the south side of the island exposed my family and I to harsh air pollution from the Kilauea vent.  Within the 3 months of the eruption we had the worst air quality in the world! My family and I were experiencing health issues associated with the toxic air.  It was a blessing that my property had wild Mamaki growing on it already. I've heard of the plant before but didn't know of the medicinal uses the plant had to offer. I did my research and discovered that drinking Mamaki tea can help with so many ailments. Mamaki tea is a powerful blood purifier, so it cleanses the blood of inhaled particular matter. Particulate Matter is a complex mixture that may contain soot, smoke, metals, nitrates, sulfates, dust, and water. For 3 months my family and I drank tea made from the leaves of the Mamaki plant. I could feel the difference within an hour of consuming the tee. I drink Mamaki tea everyday and I can feel the healing properties of the tea . I experience a euphoric feeling when I drink the tea on a daily bases. I can back everything I say from experience. Please give this rare and wonderful plant a chance to change your life.

Step 1 Make Tea. Purchase the dry loose leaf tea.

Step 2 Place dried leaves of mamaki into a teapot, french press, pot or teacup for each cup that you want to make. 1 pinch of dried material per cup(if using large 1 gallon pot use .5 oz of material)

Step 3 Boil water in a tea kettle or pan and then pour it over your mamaki leaves.(if using a 1 gallon pot, boil .5 oz of dried tea on low for 15-20 minutes)

Step 4 Allow your tea to steep for about 10-15 minutes, and then strain it and enjoy with sugar, honey, lemon, milk or other tasty additions.

Letting the tea steep for longer will add more flavor, medicinal benefits, and color. (the darker the better)

-(using a 1 gallon pot with .5 oz should steep over night) Jar and refrigerate for weekly use
